Co. Clare on the west coast of Ireland. The current Group has been in existence
since the 1970s and started competing on the Irish Drama Festival circuit in the

national and international level. Over the years a wide range of theatrical
productions have been staged and each November the Group present three 1-Act Plays
at 'Supper Theatre' in the Old Ground Hotel and in Spring stage their annual 3-Act
play in Glór. Annual qualification for the All-Ireland 1-Act finals
has been the norm in recent years with such plays as; Winners by Brian
Friel (1999), The Valiant by Hall & Middlemass (2000), Lone Star
by James McLure (2001), The Donoghue Sisters by Geraldine Aron (2002) and
The Dandy Dolls by George Fitzmaurice (2004). In 2003 the Group had the
honor of hosting the All-Ireland 1-Act drama finals which was a fantastic success. In
the 2001/2002 season the Group had the distinction of being the holders of two
All-Ireland trophies, for their productions of James McLure's 1-Act play Lone
Star and Martin McDonagh's full-length play The Beauty Queen of Leenane.
Following the All-Ireland win with the The Beauty Queen of Leenane Ennis
Players travelled to Chicago to perform the show there and the following year
took the production to Melbourne. Both tours where sell-out successes and also
received great critical acclaim. The Group won the All-Ireland 1-Act Open
title in 2004 with George Fitzmaurice's strange fantasy; The Dandy Dolls
and subsequently represented Ireland at the World Festival of Amateur Theatre
in Monaco in August 2005. In the same season they represented the amateur drama
movement as part of the Abbey Theatre's centenary celebrations with their production
of Kathleen Ni Houlihan. The Group have a membership of about 50
